Shelf Life???

Anyone know what the shelf life is for a bag of homemade soft plastic baits? In a laminated zip loc bag and in a climate controlled room, hanging on peg board. How about a bag of Yamamoto's? I was wondering if they dried out after time. Thanks

If they are sealed tight they should last for a long time. You may want to put just a couple drops of worm opil in with them so they stay slick. Plastic will absorb the oils that result from the cooking and can get sticky, but they should remain pliable for years and years if sealed up.

Keeping them out of direct exposure to sunlight helps too. Check the pegboard to see if sunlight coming thru a window hits the pachage. If it does, move them over a peg or six.

I don't know about today's plastic because I haven't used it that long.  I have worms that are 25 years old that are in the same apparent condition that they were in when I poured them. A little color bleeding into the worm oil; but not much.  Not air conditioned stored, but not subjected to direct sunlight ( garage stored ).  As a matter of fact; I have re-melted some of the purple - red worms.  They melted fine - a little smoky compared to today's plastic; but that was as I remembered the plastic as being ( Pre  microwave ).  They seem fine; as of now; - 18 months or so.
