my good idea for the month hd additive tip
« on: 07/18/13 21:38 UTC »
Well my light bulb comes on about once a month and by golly today was it  :P
I was shooting my new stick mold with HDS additive and was tired of measuring Evert time  so I took a Cajun injector, the one you use for turkeys, measured out 2 table spoons marked it with tape and drilled the plastic tip out and it works slick as heck! You can shoot a fine stream of it and stir to really suspend the HDS.
No dripping and you can measure perfect amount

Nice. Are you able to suck the HD up through the tip?

Oh heck yea, easy as pie once you drill the tip out. Not sure how big the bit was but the hole is about twice the normal size. Put it in a zip lock bag when your done no mess at all.

Mo - Are the stick baits shown made with the HD additive?  They look really clean compared to  salted baits to me.

Great idea, Mo.  I also like what you're doing with your colors.  They remind me of some old pics that Paul posted in the gallery a few years ago.
Until next time.

Yea, those are made with 2tablespoons of hd per 4 ounces. You really have to pour the color to it and don't judge the color till it hardens. When it is liquid it looks blah but as soon as it hardens it totally changes. The 2x is awesome for this. My LC colors worked but nots good that black is 30 drops LC black per 4 ounces!!!!! I need more 2x just wanted to use my other colors up because once I get more 2x I'll never use the others and I have WAY to much invested for that lol

If you're selling your baits, how much have you had to increase in cost vs salt?

That is an awesome idea! I'm going to have to get one of those Cajun injectors when I go to town today.

Run out to your local farm supply store and get your injectors [live stock syringes] way cheaper than that Cajun thing.

I hadn't thought about that. I've already got livestock syringes lying around that haven't been used. Thanks for the tip.  :)
