Solarez

Anyone here use Solarez?Check this topic out on Tackleunderground under hardbaits. This stuff is UV cured it hardens under a UV light or in the sunlight. Doesn't harden when you open the can; unless your in the sunlight. Just brush it on, put the bait under a UV lamp (finger nail light) or take it outside in the sunlight and it hardens crystal clear in a matter of minutes. Easy to store and easy to use. Caution , it has a smell-- don't use it in the house! I bought some and also got a nail lamp off of e-bay, but haven't used it yet. Can use a airbrush to paint jigs and then brush on Solarez to protect the paint job. Like I said I haven't used it yet, hope someone can give first hand info on using it. Looks like a new great topcoat.

I was hoping the product had a site or www. address on the label or that whereever you ordered it from had a site to visit without having to register for another forum site..

Gary I found the company site. Interesting stuff they have there and way more products than for just fishing. A couple there sound like they might make a super cover coat on jigs and for tying bucktails I see a product that could really help make a tough product.

Yes, I'm  always interest in new products and ways to do things better. If this works out; I'll be able to airbrush jigs with createx  and cover them with a scale pattern, spray paint the top, put eyes on them and coat then with solarez and have something for myself that very few have.

I've recently been using a product that is similar to this with my fly tying called Clear Cure Goo.  A very dependable and useful product and it has a number of applications.  Similar product aimed at a different group of anglers but none the less some pretty cool technology.  Here's a link to that site:

Jerry, That does look like a great product to try. Looks like it would be good for covering eyes on jigs and also jig paint jobs. Will have to find out how it holds up to rocks while fishing. Have you used the brushable? It shouldn't harden in the bottle if it's not exposed to sunlight; right?

I checked out the website.  I especially liked the eyes.  They are not giving anything away...pretty pricy.
Until next time.

It is a good product and very effective, but I haven't used it for anything but dressing Fly heads.  I have not used the brushable product but the thick and thin formulas only.  It is really easy to work with and from my experience once it is cured it's hard as a rock.  It is light sensitive so it should always be kept in a cool, dark place.  I keep mine in a drawer in my "tackle shop" which is located in my basement.  The only time it sees light is when I need to use it.
