Caney Creek's New Plastic
« on: 06/01/11 08:29 UTC »
Hey everyone,

I was fortunate enough last week to sample the new plastic Caney Creek will be offering. I have tried numerous plastics in the past; Calhoun's, Chemionic's, and M.F. Caney Creek's new plastic is extremely impressive! I tried CC Plastic in the microwave and it heats faster than MF. It is by far the clearest plastic I have ever seen. CC Plastic pours like a soft plastic - it pours very thin, which makes it easy for hand pouring and smooth for injecting. I shot laminates with the CC Plastic and found that the baits came out feeling very dry to the touch, almost like they've already been cured. The texture is similar to MF regular, however, CC Plastic is dry without greasy residue. CC Plastic does have a slight odor and very little smoke in comparison to MF. Also, this plastic does not hard pack or settle out. There is no shaking involved which is a huge plus for me. One thing I hate with other plastics is having to stir and shake it up. CC Plastic is consistent, there is no need for shaking and stirring.

This plastic is made with the same quality Jason puts into his molds. There are no short-cuts. I feel as though this is the Patron Silver of plastic. One thing about Jason, as we can see in his molds, he is an absolute perfectionist. One thing I can say is that Jason put the same amount of thought, and quality into his plastic as he does his molds.

Overall, I would give Caney Creek Plastic a 5 out of 5 stars. Hat's off to Caney Creek for putting out another high quality product.

FWIW if a plastic is thin, I would be concerned when needing to add salt and glitter. The reason being that it will fall out of suspension much faster than it would in a thicker plastic.

Mike:

I also tested this plastisol. No problem with flake, salt, etc. This is no thinner thatn any other plastisol out there. Salt and flake will stay suspended as with other unless you use to hot and then not matter the brand, everything will fall fast.

I tested medium and it was as described. This stuff is by far the best I have used in all my times with pouring. It has the best qualities of each brand.

Beyond what Underdog tested, I have also tried Lureworks, Ozark, 3G and numerous other off label brands. M-F was my go-to with LC being a close second.

After all this time, finally a plastisol I can rely on!

Jim

Mike,

It suspends well.  It's not actually thinner, I think smoother would be a better way to describe it.  We will have samples for a larger test group very soon.  I'll keep you posted.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Jeff,

It's being made now.  We should have it in 2 weeks.  Before we officially launch it we are going to do one last test with a drum.  We will offer it in 1 gallon containers at a discounted price to those who want to participate.  I know some of the larger companies send it out for free, we just aren't large enough to do that.

Once we get feedback from this test we will move forward from a mass production perspective with the plastic and packaging.

THanks,

Jason

Ditto. Gallon of the medium and soft....

PS  Did anyone test the soft? Wondering how the baits compare to M-F super soft or LC super-super soft?

To keep this straight I've added it to the store.  We are limiting the first shipment to 50, you can reserve yours by ordering now.  Shipping is included in the price and you can expect it within 3 weeks.  It will initially just ship in standard packaging.  We will unveil the production packaging prior to full production.
