Curing Time?
« on: 08/25/13 20:08 UTC »
I was just curious how long you guys let your plastic baits cure before either packaging them or storing them for packaging later?  I am doing a large order and want to get them off the curing area asap to make room for more worms.  I have been letting them sit for about 24 hours and then storing them.  These are dragon tail worms and I don't want them to end up with curved bodies or tails.  I have about 15 gallons of plastic to go through on these guys and am trying to get them done in about three days.  Thanks guys!

I put my baits in the fridge or freezer for 24 hours if I want them to cure fast, otherwise I let them sit out for a couple of days.

You could. Put them in cold water to help as well.   Just make sure water does not come on contact with plastic in the cup.

To try the water trick I would need a pool to throw all of the baits I am making in.  ;D  I am using caney creek/do it plastisol if that makes a difference.  They are in my shop that is somewhat cool in the evening, probably 60 at night.

I cure a minimum of 72 hours nowadays, but longer is better.  5 days, you're doing good.  This is with Saltwater plastic, tho.  Soft, 48 hours is plenty, and you can even get by with 24 hours.  Regular/Medium, of course, is between the Hard and Soft.

These are medium, no salt for use in fresh water.  So I probably need to keep them curing for at least 48 hours then.
