Red eyes bleeding
« on: 08/26/13 03:23 UTC »
I have been using some 8mm eyes on my swim baits. The gold and silver do great but the red bleed onto every bait they are on. I bought these some time back from another supplier and they were cheap. d not dipping these either using a small drop of super glue or coat them with Mend-it. Anyone else have this issue. What about the red eyes sold here? Any issues?

The eyes found here will not bleed. Bog Baits has eyes that are colorfast too.

Shane...I quickly found out that there is no such thing as an inexpensive eye. I did a batch of baits for a shop and used eyes I got from one of the catalog oufits. Within a week I had every one of the baits back. Red seems to be the worst color for problems though. I sure hope you didn't lose a lost of baits because of this. Its a double whammy since your eye investment just went down the drain and the plastics messed up due to the eyes won't sell very well either.

Nah, I didn't lose much just frustrating. Good thing I caught it before is sent a huge order out. These swims are not cheap to make or buy so glad to know now. Thanks for the info.

I have had H E double hockey sticks with bleeding eyes from nearly every body . Have changed epoxy back and forth half a dozen times . Just wait till those baits lay in the hot sun a while or get left in a car with the windows up . Soon as you get an order of eyes from someone . get a strong magnifying glass and look at the eyes. If you see anything that looks like a wet ring on the paper around the outer edge of the eye . They will more than likely bleed . Don't take my word  it test them on a pop sickle stick by dipping in epoxy . dip slow then pull out slow . Stand the stick up and give it 5 or 10 min. I got maybe 10,000 bleeders .

Man that's bad. I asked one guy selling eyes if his bleed. He acted like I was crazy. He said no eyes will bleed. Did not buy from that guy
