Ultra Minnow jig with a belly swivel

I really think the Ultra Minnow jig with a belly swivel that would allow the angler to add a spinner blade to the jig would be awesome, sort of a swarming hornet but better. I know I could modify the mold but it would be better if it was designed into the mold as it would probably have better balance, just a thought. I apologize is someone else had the same idea posted.

I don't know that this particular design has been mentioned here at the forum yet but we certainly have heard it before...  I'll be sure that the design team hears about it and we'll see what comes.  We do appreciate the input.

I make that exact bait, very easy to do, I would just mod the mold my ultra I can do about 6 different baits.

I was just thinking of what I could use the new shad head with wire keeper for and then when I went back and looked at it, I bet that would also make a great belly spinner especially with the wire keeper.

I don't know how many you want to make, but I have been making these for a long time now.  I only need a few at a time so its a little laborious but no big deal.  Its a #7 crane swivel buried in the body of the jig.  I have a number drill the diameter of that swivel and I drill them out and epoxy in the swivel.  I clip the eye off the swivel on the end I am gluing into the jig.  Like I said, i wouldnt want to make 100 at a time like this, but for 5-10 at a time it's no big deal. 

I fish a straight fluke body on them or some type of boot tail swimbait.  As you can see, I add the ball bearing swivel and a willow blade.

Neat idea! When you say you clip the top eye off the crane swivel, you must leave the two wires on to hold in the mold right? Do you powder paint before or after putting the swivel in? Ever have one come out?

I don't think the mold is modified, I believe he is drilling out the jig and then he epoxies the swivel in but the swivel is just used as a place to attach the BB swivel and blade, the way the crane swivel is epoxied into the jig it probably doesn't spin but I may be wrong. That looks great but I don't have a drill press and trying to do them with a hand drill is asking for a trip to the E.R., plus time consuming. I know I can modify a mold but I think if it is designed into the mold you end up with a better balanced bait, a bad balance on the belly spinners makes them horrible to fish as I have tried homemade versions and if the swivel and blade are too far back the bait doesn't work well.

I've never had one come out.  Use a two part epoxy like Devcon 2-Ton.  The crane swivel does turn but its not meant to spin.  That much of the swivel protruding is needed to clear the blade away from the bait.  I use a drill press but I have also put them in a vice and drilled by hand.  They really aren't that time consuming.  Like I mentioned, you wouldn't want to do 100 like this, but to do 10 for yourself, its 10-15 minutes.
