Nice weather tonight....

Wyoming, South Dakota and Montana are seeing some serious snowfall tonight. I've heard up to 4 FEET of the stuff. Locally our weather has been chattering about a big low pressure area that intends to sloooooooooowly crawl across our region for the next three days or so and drop copious amounts of rain. That's all we need since we just got the big river and local lakes to somewhat normal levels. I've been listening to thunder creep closer and closer so I finally looked at my radar map and wow, there's a chunk of weather about 4 counties square right on our back door and zoomed right in for a direct hit. The forecast that comes with the radar says we can expect high winds, heavy rain, hail and to top all that off Tornado watches are all over in Iowa right where these storms are coming from. I don't want heavy rain really but then I don't need a twister either. Man this year has been full of weird weather.

Best go get the van in the garage and dump my rain gauge.

we have received a couple of boomer thunder storms but the nights have been great 71 no wind and just very comfortable, big rains to come tomorrow

It was really raining with lots of lightning here(eastern SD) for about half an hour and I've heard out in the Black Hills they already have over a foot of snow

So much for this years global warming weather.  The weather has been weird;  no hurricanes,  not a really hot summer in the south east ( compared to our normal run of 100 degree days ), and now early October major snows.

We got 3" of rain in a short time. The dam flow speed went up 5000 feet a second over a 24hr. period that is just from local rain water level will rise again in about 2 to 3 days from the water flow from the north. mike

1-3/8" of rain last night. Lots of lightning and thunder but the winds never really got to a point of being a problem. Most of the bad stuff that had tornado warnings in it went to our south....almost in Andy's direction. Its much cooler today and rain is still forecast for the next two days off and on. I can live with that.

I'm in east central PA and yesterday I was glad my A/C was still in, 87 degrees and humid and then the T-storms rolled through last night and it is still hot, but I remember a few years back when I was on the river fishing in shorts and T-shirt at the end of October so it happens.
