Crawfish tail mold
« on: 10/13/13 06:14 UTC »
Do any of you remember  the wobble head jig that do-it made for Cabelas? It was a flat jighead  much like a penny or quarter with the back turned up slightly ( Yes, I have that mold) What I want is a mold that is flat like that in the shape of a crawfish fantail. Then I want to put a hitchhiker in the hook eye to screw in the plastic crawfish, this would let you rig the bait Tex sposed so you could fish it in junk. It would flutter down with a slight side to side motion! What do you think? I think Cabelas had the rights to the wobble head but I could be wrong. Jerry might know something about that.

I remember seeing a jig that looked like a craw with a head that resembled a tail, it had to be a custom but I think I know what you mean. The wobble jig mold had a couple variants, there was one with a barbed collar and one without if I'm not mistaken, We used to use the grave digger jig to fish soft plastic grubs for river smallies, the shape of the jig would cause the grub to move side to side and it would get bit on the tough days. The wobble head made a great bottom crawling jig, I wish I never sold it.

I'd like to have a craw tail lead mold myself . The wobble head would work if the hook eye was on the opposite side . Been watching for a junk one to modify . Absolutely refuse to mod. good molds .I'm prone to screwing up at the last moment .

If Do-It made a mold with the craw tail like the new football w/ewg hook. Go to River 2 Sea.com and look at the Dahlberg Clackin Craw watch the video.  I think when the claws flap it would give you that up and down movement because the lead tail and plastic craw will pivot. If you used a cc insert I think it would give the right pull point and hinge action that you need. mike 8)
