Help On How To Use Lami Plate
« on: 10/17/13 18:08 UTC »
I've been searching the site but haven't answered all my questions. When you do your first pour with the plate do you remove the bait and remove all the excess plastic, then place the bait back in the mold and then close the mold and do the second pour. Also what kinda of timeline do you have between pours and should the second pour be at the normal 350° or hotter. Any help would be appreciated!

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter - and unsafe.

Ok. let me see if I can help here.

This is how I do it.   I make one color at a time.  So I will make like ten  1/2. Of one color. Lay them to the side.  Make up second color.

I make sure my mold is warm to hot to the touch. Like 100-120 degs   Then I lay my first color 1/2 in the mold   And shoot my second color in.  SLOWLY. So the 1/2 already in there does not lift.  And I shoot the second color a little hotter. Like 360 or so.

The turn around time one using the 1/2. I don't know for sure. But. I like to use mine the day I make them.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, so you do cut off all the extra plastic and just put the bait back in the mold. This gives me a pretty good idea on how to do it.

Yes just pull the spru off. And it's ready to go back in.

Yes, everything but the bait needs to be removed from the mold.  On occasion I will just leave the bait in the mold and simply remove everything else and shoot again.  The real tip offered here is to make the second shot SLOWLY.  Too fast with too much pressure will allow the first shot to lift and allow the second color to infiltrate the entire cavity.
