Caney Creek Crystal Clear Plastic Update
« on: 06/22/11 18:05 UTC »
The end, really it's the beginning, is near.  We have the new plastic, Caney Creek Crystal Clear, we also have everything except for one part of the packaging.  I have been assured we will have it no later than next Friday.  So, we can ship the plastic as it is intended to be shipped the week of July 5th.  This will also hopefully be the official launch.

If you pre-ordered it and can't wait please send me a PM and I will ship yours early in a regular plastic jug.  If you can wait, I think you will be glad you did.

I'm spilling the beans...

Caney Creek Crystal Clear Plastisol will be packaged and sold in a box.  Very much like the wine in a box concept.  Why?  The benefits are many:

1) Cost: It significantly helped reduce cost in several areas (packaging, shipping and storage space).  This is how we are able to offer such a high quality plastic at the price we are.  The plastic cost quite a bit more than others (it really does use a grade of raw ingredients that I don't believe is being used in the fishing industry today), however we are making it up in shipping and packaging.  Huge win for everyone.

2) Usability: The packaging has a faucet dispenser built into it that allows plastic to be poured as easily as getting a glass of water from your kitchen sink.  You just turn the faucet, and out comes the plastic.

3) Contaminates: The bag is sealed, only plastic comes out.  No humidity or moisture can enter as it is a single direction, positive flow dispenser.

4) The environment: When you finish off a box you just break it down and recycle it.  No more jugs all over the place.  The environmental footprint of a jug vs a box is huge.

There are many more benefits, but none bigger than the plastic itself.  I'm sure you have read the reviews: designed from the ground up for the microwave, works great in a pot, no hard pack, less smell, less smoke, no micro bubbles, extremely clear, heats and reheats very well, cures well, no oily residue, and overall just very easy to work with.

Pricing.  This may be a deal breaker for some, but we literally set out with one goal: to provide the best plastic on the market.  Once we got there, price was obviously an issue.  Hopefully you can see the amount of effort we have gone to, to bring this inline with other plastics on the market.  It's not the cheapest, but if you compare shipped prices, I think it's competitive considering the product you are getting, and the time you will save vs. a lesser quality plastic that isn't as easy to work with.

1 Gallon Shipped: $54.99
2.5 Gallons Shipped: $94.50
5 Gallons Shipped: $176.96

The 5 gallon size can be divided into soft, regular or hard compounds.

Once released I have no idea what the demand will be.  I will keep the site updated and try to plan ahead to make sure we have it on hand.  Please be a little patient the month of July as we get our processes down and have a better understanding of the demand.

Your comments and feedback are always appreciated.

Thank you!
