The answer is yes, but I still need to vent...
Finally headed out to some fishing as I just got my boat back. It's been being worked on for a looong time now. New wiring harness and new steering cables. Anyway, stopped to put some gas in the boat in the morning and off we went. Were at the boat launch literally in the process of putting the boat in the water and my wife says, "wheres your wallet"? We searched for an hour in the car, the boat, around the launch, called the gas station and nothing. It's gone and no where to be found. After quite a few minutes of cursing and damming the world, I say to my wife, "forget it. Let's call the credit card companies and just cancel everything. Let's not waste the beautiful day. Were here, let's catch some fish"! Mind you I NEVER carry cash but I did this day, $250 dollars worth. Not to mention credit cards, insurance cards, and my gosh darn social security card!! $&@!, bleep, bleep, bleep!
Anyway, let's catch some fish right? Were fishing for about 20 minutes and my $&@#ing wife falls in the water, complete yard sale. No waves, not much wind, just wants to get her feet wet. (men, just fill up your live wells for your wives feet!) anyway, she panics, completely unaware shes fishing with a two hundred dollar rod and reel, flops around to grab the boat and we both watch the rod and reel sink down to fifteen feet of candle wood lake water. Bleep, bleep, bleep! Gone, goodbye, and see ya never. I try to keep my composure, and make sure she's okay of course, and begin damming the world again under my breath.
What a day right? Lose my wallet, all my personal and extremely important info, my social, $250 cash, my favorite rod and reel, and not to mention a whole lot of pride. Can it e any worse?
Of course it can, let's not forget how lucky we are sometimes...I have a schedules that gives me time to fish, a car to get me there, a nice boat to fish out of, and a beautiful wife to accompany me. As I started to lose it, I realized it could be worse. I could be a 19 year old U.S. Soldier in Afghanistan whose life is on the line every minute of every day he's there. A poor innocent 5 year old with cancer and that's the only life they know. Need I say more? The list goes on and on.
Although some of us are not as lucky as others, or are a little less fortunate, we are all very lucky in our own ways and should try to never forget that. Don't sweat the small stuff!
