That's awesome! All of my friends toss me buck tails throughout the season. Even though buying them is inexpensive, I like to dye my own.

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter - and unsafe.

Gary I tie flies too so have all kinds of furs and feathers.  Got the Hairline rabbit variety packs to cut up that I got from the first ever trip to Cabelas back in October and just got the package (although I wasn't supposed to see it!!!LOL) 7 colors of the Hairline Extra Select craft fur and 5 packages of the old Targus (Dougs Bugs) craft fur which I've used before and is really nice stuff, and the pieces are 9 x 12 where the Hairline is 5x5.

The Darice long pile craft fur is good stuff, and while Punisher Craft fur used to be good it's got way too much underfur in it now and takes longer to clean before tying a jig up.

Thanks for the info on the dyes!!!  Got lots of extra flank but don't want to mess it up, but I really need to learn how.

There are tons of videos on YT on how to take care of hides/tails/furs, from a warm body to the hook. It can be a hassle during the learning curve, similar to everything else. The rewards of your efforts are worth it. I have a buddy that bleached a tail then dyed it chartreuse, after it was rinsed and dried he then went back with a heat gun and a comb. Using the comb to fluff the fibers he then dyed the tips in black. Came out rather nice, I will see if I can get some pictures.

I've got the skinning, washing, boraxing them and all kinds of tails and feathers - Just the dyeing part that throws me.  I know my daughter has done some stuff with RIT and she'll be home with the grand daughter so maybe I can make some time to try and get some lessons!!!!!!!!!LOL  I'll check YT for some video's on dyeing feathers.
