What a whumper.....
Here are a couple colors of the new 3" K-Grub. These were shot as color samples for a shop but I thought I'd share them here.

The red/orange chartreuse tailed number is a favorite of some people up near the Red Wing Dam on the Mississippi River during late fall, winter and early spring. The black and chartreuse gets a lot of attention too, but I just had to see how a hand pour 2 color body was going to look so I heated up a couple scrap blues to get the job done.
I have both the 3" and the 2.5" molds and hope to get more pictures up in the next couple days if we can hold onto this terrible heat we have today and maybe tomorrow. As soon as the crate holding these puppies was opened this morning I bee-lined it for Hobby Lobby for some lam plate stock. Good news, the plate works for both molds. Bad news...it wasn't warm enough in the garage to use it and get full tails. Shooting the mold today without a plate handed me very nice baits.
Both molds are well vented and full tails from the start was a welcome event. De-molding too soon will show some denting, but I'm still not accustomed to large volume cavities so its more operator error than anything and I am using a very soft plastic which is more prone to denting anyway. As you can see the tail welds are nice and re-laying the tail pieces for a second color shot is a piece of cake. The hand pouring is simple too and when the second color goes atop of the hand pour it welds up very well.
And yes a couple of the have seen water already. I put the tall boots on and grabbed a walleye rod with a jighead already tied on and hit the river behind the house for about ten casts. No fish but enough casting to determine that the tail action of this bait is incredible. About all I had to do to get the tail in motion was think about the retrieve. I'd have stayed a while longer but a misplaced step got me wet almost to the goods so I trudged back home to thaw down some.
As mentioned, I'm hoping to get a bunch more of both baits shot so I can show a good sampling to the shops but you'll be seeing them here first. The K-Grubs are a super walleye bait here but I am certain that smallies, LM and white bass as well as crapppies will find favor with these baits.
