Granite Flippin Jig
« on: 01/19/14 22:05 UTC »
So I refinished my counter tops this weekend with a granite paint kit and after the work was complete I decided to try it on a couple flippin jigs. Turned out pretty nice! Nothin like a little experimenting.

Now that is thinking outside the box.  Good looking head, SM.
Until next time.

I posted that picture on my phone and didn't realize how insanely big it was. Little smaller image

I can't see it? Try using image shack or photobucket, I want to see how that came out.

I guess I will have to. I had the same problem last time I posted a picture. I don't have an account with either, but I will.

How things change....lol. When I was a kid, I'd prime jigs made in home-made oak blocks with white house paint. Then they got some Herter's colors. Back then there was a spray kit called Krackle Kraze that was a two part thing. The under color was sprayed on and allowed to dry then the top color was applied and as it dried it would spider-web. It looked pretty cool and I'd imagine your granite coat would be similar.

There is never an end to what can be thought up to use on tackle. Toss in a little science and technology and you can have a field day. Good work SM!.

That picture worked. Neat jig; very natural looking. Would be good with a plastic crawfish!

Thanks everybody! Good news is I have enough paint for a couple hundred more heads probably! It's just a primer and 3 other mineral paints you apply over with a sponge. Might be something to try with other color regular paints as well. Now the wheels are turning.

That color is great!!!! I bet it will blend in with a lake bottom enough to break up the outline of the jighead, and when that happens it gets bit!!!! Awesome work for sure SM!!!!!

Thanks Smallie, I sure hope your right! Pretty simple process really. I'm going to try it with some hair jigs for ice out time.
