Nice.. I like the x2 motor oil a lot.  Out of the baits in the pic whats your favorite one to fish?

That's a trick question, the answer is All of them, right?  For this color, the tubes and worms won't last long. Ill probably have the most fun with those mini croakers tho.

Thanks.  Can you Texas rig those mini croakers or are they to small?

They're 1.75".  I had some small worm hooks, don't remember if they were 1 or 1/0, but they worked.  This is a panfish bait for me, lots of ways to rig it.  Besides the obvious jigheads, small Aberdeen hook either weightless or w/ a splitshot about 10" up seems to work real well for various panfish with smaller mouths.

Nick.....with some green hi lites added to the motor oil you can create a color almost like the changeable colorants afford but without the bleeding issues. Gold hi lite really makes motor oil jump and somewhere I have a pic of the X2 motor oil with a good shot of orange hi lite in it that creates a real wowser of a color. Play with that a bit. When you cup gets almost too low to use any more just add an ounce of new plastic and heat it until ready then toss in one or the other of those hi lites and do a shot in a smaller mold. I think you'll like how those additions can change your basic motor oil into an electric color.

I think another company makes orange hilite, Sim.

Pretty much any hilite will work in motor oil, it's a versatile color that I haven't played with enough yet.  It's a fish catching color too, so I'll have plenty of opportunity to experiment.  Green hilite is part of my standard recipe now.  I think violet hilite would also give a great effect.

yeah - it was more of a comment of "yet another hilite I never thought of, and yet another order I need to make, because, well, that makes sense"

I see those green leaves in the background and think you've been sitting on this color for a while Nick. What I give for green leaves here today.....

Nope Tom, that's a boxwood.  Broadleaf evergreens give a little bit of false hope that it might be spring soon. :)

That's dirty pool Nick. I filled the feeders for the birds today and one of the grackles said I was cold and cheap to feed them cut rate seeds. I shot the little s--t. Getting edgy what with all the cold and snow. I'm still waiting for this infamous January thaw and I opened up the picture link you posted this morning and saw green leaves. I see Denny is getting grumpy too...wanting to sell the puppy. Now that's cold. I'm going to dig out a stash of National Geographic magazines I have hidden that have pictures of palm trees, heat waves and near naked women to look at. Maybe that'll improve my disposition.

Well if you saw those leaves in person you'd know they aren't a healthy shade of green!  They hate winter as much as we do.  I had a gardener friend from Portland gushing about his garden being a winter wonderland.  I told the sick bastard to stop teasing us or he'd be stuck to a flagpole by his tongue.  The only benefit to winter is I have 10 weeks off to breed fish, make baits, and get caught up on tv.  At this point I want June back so I can be outside!  Looking at plant catalogs isn't helping.  Stick to the near naked women.  That should improve your disposition.   ;D
