Saturdays jig pouring session
« on: 03/02/14 16:00 UTC »
Well I finally got off my butt, and hoping the back held up did some jig pouring - had to try the new mold. I poured Ballhead no collar, redman heads, horseheads and the new mold. 650 total - Used 1 1/2 pots of lead before the back hurt and I packed it all in.

The new mold has a twist, a member knows someone and helped me get it moded to make 1/32nd football head jigs and I used #6 Black Chrome sickles

Here's all the jigs I poured and then packed up

One I really had to stock up on was the 1/32nd horseheads and I put #6 black chrome hooks in them

Those horseheads; do you use plastics on them, or our they mainly for jig tying? I like to tie a wire keeper on the ones I use with plastics.

Horseheads I tie on - pony's I use plastics on.  I've been tempted to put a bigger hook slot so I can put a piece of wire as a keeper but I'm worried about messing it up.!!!!!

Nope I only pour for me.  I was low on that hook size - I have a whole box of unpainted heads and an even bigger box of painted heads.  I could probably tie for 6 months and not run out.

Can't sell homemade horsehead or pony heads.  Would depend on the trade - there's not alot of stuff I don't have.

Awesome job Fatman, I think those football heads are fantastic, is that from the new mold and what mod was done to it. BTW, for those that don't know, "redman heads" are a custom mold that look like the original Cap Kennedy Rock-a-roo heads.

The mold was a 1/32nd roundhead and the points were cut into it, based on some instructions from a member on Jigcraft.  Might have to use a ladle as the pour holes make it real hard with the bottom pour.
