Live target baitball
« on: 03/25/14 13:37 UTC »
Saw one of these and had to pick it up solely because it's an eye catcher. They have it in cranks also but I never use cranks so I got the topwater popper version. Looks like three minnows schooled up and it reminded me of a bait I saw in the gallery made by someone on here.

Anyways, do you all think this would even work? I'm sure I'll catch a few on it but will it make a difference over a regular popper just because of the baitfish?pictures in order are: in box, right side, left side, and then bottom

No, shouldn't make any difference. It's how you work the plug and what motion the fish want.

I'm not sure just how much fish see. Do you really think that a bass looks at a crankbait and says "this bait has no fins painted on it, don't think I'll react"? Lots of lures are painted fancy to sell us fishermen. Basic color, action and a good presentation dictates whether the fish reacts. Many times while ledge fishing I've seen the angle of the cast make all the difference, little small things that we often overlook as fishermen.

im not sure the live target baitbaill would be my bait of choice as a topwater bait. I do understand and think the bait as a crank will work well.. When a bait ball is broken up, bait fish will still come together in smaller balls of bait, hense the reason for the cranks. So I can totally see the crank working..

Will it work better than any other crank on the market? Probably not.
