Odd Leaking Problem
« on: 08/25/11 06:47 UTC »
I have an odd leaking problem from my CCM Plastic container.
I bought 1 gallon to test and pour some Crappie baits.
It is a wonderful plastic; truely crystal clear. But; I have a problem.  I was sure that 1 gallon would last at least a month.  But; the container sporadicly leaks 4 to six ounces much more often than I anticipated.  Must be a problem with the nut that controls the turning of the nozzle.  ;D  ( very nice feature by the way ).  Looks like I will have to order a 2.5 Gallon container soon to see if it has the same problem.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

You scared me!!!   ???

I am still working on my first cup of coffee.

Just to give you a little background on the packing solution we have, leaks were a major concern I had going into this.  Really with any liquids I'm always a little concerned.  With that said, here is a little performance data on the bladders and overall packaging:

The bladders are certified by XYZ (some agency) for International shipping.  They are actually 2 bags, even though they look like 1.  They passed the Bubba Institute testing criteria with flying colors.  To test them I filled them with water and threw them aprox. 10 feet in the air and let them land on concrete (just the bag - no box involved).  I never had one bust before the 4th throw.  I then boxed it, put that box in the shipping box, and jumped on it multiple times (aprox 250lbs) - never broke.  Tried the toss test and wore myself out before the bag.

In the last year we had 2 mold get destroyed in shipping - I'll try and find a pic - it's pretty impressive (not in a good way).  I'm sure at some point something will happen to one of them, but so far they have shipped all over the world and every one has arrived in good condition.

You don't have to have the box to use the plastic, but it makes it way easier to use.  When you finish a box off it may not be a bad idea to break a box down and keep it stored away somewhere in case you ever get a box that has been roughed up.

Keep the jokes coming.  I don't have a heart condition, yet...

Odd Leaking problem ---  UPDATE  ---
The sporatic leaking problems continue - and -  The 2.5 gallon container has a little more problem in this area ( maybe due to the larger reserve capacity ).  I have spent more time analyzing this phenomenon.  It apppears the leaking is at it's worse when the temperature is  between 60 - 80 degrees and it is very windy or raining.  And for some very odd reason; it spikes when there is nothing decent on TV.  I am now almost convinced it is the nut that controls the valve.

I don't know about childproof;  Idiot proof, maybe.  But; if he did that; I wonder what it would do to his plastic sales?

How about putting it an old milk container and labeling it plastisol? Wouldn't that help with the lose of product? Just saying.

I suspect my "leaking" problem will get worse....when winter comes to lovely Minnesota!

I'll have plenty of time to make baits, remelt....make them again....try this...try that...... I think I better order 10 gallons...at least!

When it's -25 outside...and it's too windy to set up the ice fishing tent......I gotta do something!

Plus with all those new molds that Jason released that I "have to have".....that is going to drain my container of CCM plastic even faster!!
