question of the day
« on: 05/25/14 23:34 UTC »
I have looked at many of the topics and I have seen a few about how long baits have to cure before they are ready to package.  I am looking into adding scent to my baits and was wondering if anybody lets there baits cure in the scent or is it about the same to let them cure and add a little scent to the bag just before packaging.

thanks guys and look forward to hearing all the wisdom you have

My Absolute Dead Minimum cure time is 72 hours, and even then, I expect my baits to get bent after being in the bag a few days.  Here lately, minimum 14 days, 30 days curing is optimal.

I recently shot some small baits, cured for 6 days, scented as I bagged.  After about a week I went in those bags...they had bent.  >:(

The last time I cured baits for the month, is the last time I pulled straight baits out of a bag after being bagged awhile.  2 weeks minimum, 4 weeks is a good job.

I've about had it with crooked baits, and I've learned recently what it really takes.

My personal baits don't get any scent other than a shot of Gulp juice once in a great while. If you are using scent for yourself or your customers, I suggest adding the scent as you bag the baits after they have time to cure.

A cup of hot water will cure bent baits.  I do not apply scent until I am putting the bait on the hook.  I use  too many different scents.
