This stinks
« on: 06/21/14 21:13 UTC »
I was looking at a couple water-level monitoring sites I use, one for the small lake north of me and the other for the Mississippi River. The small lake is still 3 feet higher than normal and is under a no wake rule. Getting to where the fishing is will be a 30 minute drag regardless of which end of the lake I launch at. The river....has risen over two feet in two days on the pool I want to fish and the flow rate per second is out of sight. Some of the backwater weed beds I love fishing on the river at this pool are under between 4 and 6 feet of water and its all running water now.

Here I sit with a couple free days early next week and no where to fish....that truly does stink.

Tom I feel your pain. I think the hole mid west is in the same shape I know the lakes and rivers by me are at spring run off rate and are like chocolate milk. :'(  :'(     If this keeps up I'm putting the boat in the garage so I can take it to work.

Not only that, but the water temperatures have climbed above the spawn mark. Came and went so fast that some areas have a poor spawn.

I know the water is still coming up, but I got into some good smallies on island heads and down current eddies where there were rip-rapped banks on Friday...  I would expect they should still be there this week.  Get on the water immediately above the dams and you'll have the "least" amount of high water to deal with.

Lots of high water here in Ohio this year. Local river is currently at flood stage, lakes are rising.  River was high and muddy through the spawning temps, lakes were 3-4 feet high through the spawn. Fishing's been tough.

My fishing spots are in pretty good shape, only problem is I'm working six days a week.  On the bright side I should be able to afford that ring-it worm mold I want.

I wish we had your guys problems.. My lake is almost 60% empty do to the major drought going on in so cal..  I'd be happy with muddy water and having it 3 feet higher than normal.  Count your blessinging..

Billmo, that's definitely one of the things I try to not complain about, rain.  Sometimes I'll slip, but usually apologize pretty quick.
