My fishing is off due to a lot of rain and dirty water, not only that but the water is going through wild temperature swings, the water is 72 degrees and then storms roll though overnight and it drops down to 64 and the fish feel it, they are tight in cover and won't move to hit anything moving. On the flip side I've been doing well with a 3/8oz and 1/2oz Trokar Arky jigs with a small 3" beaver style bait for a trailer but I'm thinking when the water clears later on it and the temp rises the large jigs will not work. So, with that in mind I went to work on a hair jig that I can swim and also bottom hop or crawl, it has to have a minnow profile but also be able to pass for a bug or craw and so this is what I came up with. Now I know it isn't new but around here not many guys add hackle on their hair jigs, I've done it with long feathers for a minnow look and I've done it with short feathers to add bulk and color but I never added them in a mid length to make a hybrid type minnow/craw profile but I kind of like the way they came out. 1/8oz with a #2 hook, finesse is the game so I went small, what do you think, yea or nay?
