For those that want to reminisce, tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of bass fishing’s Cinderella story.  For those that don’t know, follow the links to get a handle on the story of the most famous whistle in fishing. 



Bryan Kerchal came almost out of nowhere, quickly climbing the ranks of the Wrangler Angler tournament Series to get a slot to fish the Bassmaster Classic his first year (1993).  He was set on making a name for himself and ended up being his own worst enemy; he finished last place in the biggest tournament known to fishing.  The next year, he again excelled in the Wrangler Angler tournaments and gained a second slot for fishing the Bassmaster Classic. Remembering his previous year, he put making a name for himself out of his mind and focused on learning how to be a better fisherman… but because of that, he was a better fisherman and ended up making a name for himself.

I was in my late twenties at the time this happened and only dreamt of a career as an outdoors professional.  Bryan Kerchal's  Story was one of the main inspirational factors that started and sustained my journey to accomplish a life-long dream and endeavor.  I am indebted to him. Reading this story made numerous memories and tears come flooding back, but it also further instilled in me why so many of us need to continue on with the mission that Bryan Kerchal was on! Loved watching the Classic that year (wish I was 32 again).  It was an amazing thing to watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
