Core shot

I just bought a bag of culprit core shot worms and they are pretty cool. Can anyone explain to me how this is done .Thanx ,

It is not hard, just timing. Tough to get a big batch to be real close to each other.

There is a You Tube video I believe but pretty simply, just pour some hot plastic into the sprue of the closed mold and immediately shoot hot plastic into the mold. This will give you close to what you have with those culprits.

Doesn't work to good with 2 cavity molds.

For hand pour, it is pretty tough and the timing is crucial. Pour a layer, wait and then pour a thin layer of not to hot plastic so it stays intact and does not run to the sides of the mold. Then quickly pour the top portion. Not this easy but those are the steps but not the timing. Not the best picture here but you get the idea..




You can also use hand pouring and injection to achive some type of core. Pour the bottom, then add the core color and close mold and shoot... red core frog...

Experimenting is a big thing.  Like Jim said, don't expect identical baits.  Here is a Carrot that turned out pretty cool:

I am relatively new to pouring,but what I did to make a core shot while hand pouring was;pour some plastic in the mold then tilt the mold so the plastic coats the sides,let cool then poor the core,let cool,then poor to fill the mold.Takes some experamenting, but comes out pretty good.

How much do you pour into the sprue? Enough to fill the cavity?


On a side note... I'm currently searching for either a high temp glass barrel syringe, or metal barrel. My idea would be in used on my top pour 5" stick mold. Pour the worm and before the plastic sets up, stick the needle into the cavity and inject the other color plastic, pull syringe out and keep injecting until you reach the top.
I tried it with just black paint using a turkey injector. it worked, but the paint will run once the hook is put in the worm. LMAO!!

Each mold is defferent on how much you have to pour in. I would just pour some in and blast the injector and see what you get. I think most about half the sprue is plenty.

You syringe idea is good and will work. I have used a metal object (shish ka bob skewer) in the mold and poured, remove the object and then go back and fill with syringe. Takes lots of time but works good.
