Ma and I had a wedding last Friday in the same town as where the cabin is located on Lake Superior's north shore. We decided to run up a couple days early and spend some time at the cabin. On Saturday while most of the weeding entourage was nursing headaches we meandered back to the cabin and fresher fresh air until this morning.
Fishing was decent on one morning. Friday. I got three lake trout in the net, with a nice 6 and a half pounder coming home as fillets and the other two going back in the drink to grow a few more inches. A salmon and another trout did the self, un-hooking thing as they approached the net. All in all, fishing was ok. Yesterday the herring were in the area in numbers but they really didn't cater to the idea of becoming dinner. That's fishing.
Not much for wildlife this trip. The usual few deer and a couple raccoons came into the yard in the evenings, but no bear this time around. The weather was great....no rain, daytime highs in the 60's and 70's with night-time lows about 55 degrees. Great sleeping weather.
It was a nice trip and we're looking into August now for something to do. Tahoe isn't entirely out of the picture.
