If you are wanting more action, you could add some softener to the plastic and that'd give you more movement. If you are worried about durability, you could shoot the claws in a medium/soft mix and then shoot the body in medium for a bit more durability on that portion.

Jl has it pegged. Do the claws and arms separately in a softer plastic then shoot the medium for the body.

With the ridges on tips that bait should flap pretty good.

Add a teaspoon softener to your 4 oz of your medium and try that. Two teaspoons if you need to.

You can also add HD additive to medium to make it softer AND more durable. Claws wont float up though.

Other option I doubt you will try but use a dremel to make the ridges on tips deeper or more pronounced like a Bob's 702 craw.

I found the claws tear at the seam too easily like that

I'm really fussy about my craw baits and I divide them into two basic groups. Realistic and flappers.

I put the MadDad (especially the 3xl that I like) in the realistic group. When fished the claws stick out and float upwards like the defensive position of a real crawfish. The do flap a little bit but not excessively. The MadDad 3xl is one of my favorite baits fished on a football jig, on an Arkie or Texas rigged. It's a darn near perfect imitation of a crawfish (or crawdad where I grew up!). It works ok as a trailer, but that is not where it excels.

The other group of 'craws I call "flappers" and I use them on the back of swim jigs.  Bob's Tackle Shack's (formally a bait from BassTackle) 702 Craw is the best flapper I've seen. I have the 2.25" Craw Trailer and I love that bait as a trailer, but I'm not keen on them if I want a realistic looking bait. Real crawfish don't flap their claws.

I'm probably over thinking it....but that's why there are hundreds (thousands?) of craw baits to pick from!!!

I use the mad dad 4inch. and im doing good with it ..getting bass and was just wondering if I could get more action out of the claw itself I peg a 1/4 0z worm sinker or use a gamakatsu weighed 1/8 hook...never tried a football jig..but I will time coming weekend...

I am a big fan of the mud bug for movement... http://store.do-itmolds.com/375-Mud-Bug-Claw-Tips--8-Cavity_p_186.html.  The claws flap and the legs quiver on the slightest twitches; plus, it has that realism factor that Andy referenced.  Until recently, it was my favorite shaky type bait (although I actually used it on a tip-up jig)... I absolutely love the way the mud bug looks in the water!

Another option for action would be the double tail k-chub (which I use it as a jig trailer); it also looks dynamite in the water and lots of bass have succumbed to both of these for me.
