How would you fish it; punching grass beds?

Would this flipster or the glider be close to this bait?

I have a sample and it more beaver like with a segmented paddle tail.  I can see flippin and shakey head - maybe a little drop shot too (bigger hook).  You could throw a darter head on it and skip it under docks - lots of possibilities.

It is definitely wider than the glider.  The glider is more grub like in the body.  This bait is meaty'er body and tail.

This bait is closer to the glider.

This is a request bait for punching grass, pitching, flipping, jig trailer, scrounger head, etc.  The bug style body has the profile of a bait fish and will also slow down the fall when flipping.

The request was for the Berkley Devil Spear (http://www.berkley-fishing.com/products/soft-bait/havoc/devil-spear).

This bait will produce in a similar fashion with the addition of the slower fall and gliding motion as it does fall.

Had a bunch of guys show me the Devils Spear so i had Jason whip this up. Shoots great. Samples are being tested in 6 states at the moment and the guys love them. Gives you a bait with some bulk but less action in the tail if they want a more subtle presentation. We used them on smallies on Sturgeon Bay 2 days after i received the molds. Those bronze fish knocked the hell out of them. Great goby imatator i guess.

Randy:

So the action is subtle? The Devil's Spear tail is pretty lively and action packed. I guess due to how thin it is and the ribs. Good to hear these catch though! You know me and my mat punching!!!!!!! Always checking out things I can get through the thich stuff.

Ya Jim. I will get you some. The Devils Tail has a bit more action to it, But for punching think subtle but bulky. Was throwing them as a jig trailer this last week on the river. Worked nice for a trailer. Only 3 fish of about 14'' each. But with a cold front on us and the water clearing up; less action seemed to get the bites.

The main problem I see with the Devil Spear is the transition from Body to Tail.  That plastic is necked-down so skinny, it wouldn't take much...short strike, a nick and a head shake, You name it...that tail is coming off.  Jason hit the nail on the head with the Flipster.
