Ive never had this problem before but the plastic with HDA in it does take a touch longer to heat up ( I don't know why). Your baits should be a little bit softer but should not be sticky or gummy like you're explaining. My first thought would be that your plastic itself wasn't shaken up enough before cooking. Second would be, How much HDA did you add to what amount of plastic? The HDA shouldn't effect if there are air bubbles or if the cavity wasn't filling completely. Not sure though, maybe some others will have ideas you can try.

The plastic is getting under-cooked or hasn't been thoroughly shaken up in the box before use if it is gummy and sticky.

If I am not mistaken the HD product is a silica based product. The HD and the plastic may be heating at different rates, thus the longer cooking time, but I haven't seen much banter in this regard before, at least about the HD. I do know that HD requires a ton of stirring before each injection or it will settle and get thick on the bottom of your cooking container.

You don't mention temperatures....using a probe type thermometer is an absolute must to cook plastic properly. And you don't mention how you are cooking the plastic....microwave, presto pot. I don't use the HD but I'd be willing to bet its a temperature issue that you are dealing with or possibly too much of the HD product in your batch of plastic.

It's not the HDA...Run over to Target and get a digital thermometer in the cooking area that will  register to at least 400 degrees F. The run about $20

Two tablespoons in a half a cup seems a bit much.

2 tablespoons 4oz also. I'll share my probe temp experience that I had a few weeks ago that wasn't helping me in maintaining even heat. When I removed my cup from the Microwave, I stirred it real good and inserted my probe into my cup. The tip of the probe was resting on the bottom and would give me a reading. Not taken in to account that the work bench surface was 62deg and cooling the bottom of my cup really fast. I could have 320 at the bottom of my cup and the rest of the cup could read anywhere from 340-350. I was assuming that my cup was at 320 when I was shooting Senkos but I was really shooting 340 or better. This was one of a few reasons I was getting inconsistent shots every time.

I highly recommend not to use those types of thermometers. They will give you false readings also because you are only reading the top and the accuracy of your cup drops significantly. Stick with the probe. I just have to take my readings from the middle of my cup and not the bottom while it's cooling on the table. I thinks others will say the same thing here.

Could be bas batck of HDA.

And yes baits with HDA will be sticky for a while. Dont pull on them till cured. At least 48 hours
