Frogs and Toads

When would you use a frog bait or a toad bait? To me the toad is more of a surface bait with a constant motion, while the frog bait would be used with a top and go retrieve and a bottom bait? When do you guys use the different baits?

I use the Toad and Croaker as a topwater Frog but the Toad doubles as a twin-tail Grub/Craw bait, IMO...and it's a better Craw than most twin-tails because of its profile...AND hook-slots.

The Toad is also good for swimming, Frogs do dive and swim.  The Croakers body shape keeps it landing/running hook-bend-down more reliably than the Toad.  The Toad is wider and flatter than the Croaker so it can get/stay on top a little better.  I like both for their different qualities.  Next time I cook a color that would make a Frog, I'll try a Jerk Croaker...a Joaker...to go with the Jerk Toad (Joad?  Terk?).

I'm going to make up some straight wire with buzz blades on them with a split ring followed by a toad. Just something else to try.

X2!  And...
The croaker is heavier and casts further for covering more open slop areas.  The toad being flatter is better for skipping under over-hanging structure like docks, branches, etc.  I like both but prefer the toad for its versatility.  I've started shooting it w/ HD to up the weight and doing a dip in the same plastic to increase the weight a little further yet.  This gives me more weight for long casts and maintains the wide flat shape.
