Bob Garlands Spider Jig

Does anyone know if Bobbie Garlands Spider Jig skirts were legally protected? Or do you guys know where I may find out about it.  I used to fish with them back in the 80's and they were one hot item for a swim jig, but now they are very hard to find. If I could I'd make my own.

Have you checked out the Chub Grub mold?

If they looked like a tube grub...with a skirt....try molding one of the new skirts mold skirts to the front of a tube. I molded together some skirts onto the CC Glider and they are sure working well. Or maybe weld a skirt onto the back of a chub grub after you cut off the twin tails.

Thanks Andrew, at the lower end of that site you posted there was a skirt called a Grub Skirt. That one looks just like it. I'll keep searching for it. Thanks again.

Are you looking for the double skirt?  That would be easy to make with our skirt mold - just make to skirts and put them together.  If you were super set on just injecting them and being done there's no reason we couldn't make a two cavity one that you could either leave as is or split for 2 skirts.

Thanks Jason! I do appreciate your direction. In the 80's my father customized a jig head that fit the garland spider skirt perfectly. I now have that jig head in three sizes. I've looked at every mold company that has designed jig heads and still today it stands alone. There are other jig heads that have similarities, but not the exact specs. I have considered going to a grub w/ skirt, but haven't figured out how you attach them to be one piece yet. I believe the glade grub and a garland skirt would be a fine combination that would produce results.

Very nice! Simple. I was figuring there was a flat molds that was injected in the center of the mold, then you could press the head of the grub or craw in the center to weld the two together. Jason, how did you do it for the demonstration picture on your chub grub?

Hi Dave,

The skirt is from the skirt mold.  The bait is just an example of the same skirt on a bait to show what it would look like.   To save time I didn't put them together, I just used the 4" Chub Grub mold (same innards - just saved a step).

That was a good read on the hula grub.  Thanks for sharing. 

They didn't mention it in the article, but it's also good on a jig as a trailer!
