sunrise surprise
« on: 02/27/15 09:32 UTC »
Right as the sun peeked over the horizon this morning I caught this in the stage of developing.

I got the picture from our kitchen window. The river below the pretty here is open yet in spite of the -16 below zero when the picture was taken and ice crystals were forming and drifting along to make this. The haze on the yonder hillside is caused the ice crystals. I watched this critter develop and then just fade away as the sun rose higher. There was a companion to this one well to the right but it had way less brilliance. Even the bitter cold can deliver some beauty.

Great shot!  The extreme cold causes some interesting effects.

I don't know about you, but I have had enough winter beauty now.  I think the Milwaukee area was close to a record low again last night.  And you were probably even colder up there.  This is getting "old".

The cold has been old since it got here in November Marc. Give me some brown ground.
