Pony Head Question
« on: 03/26/15 19:24 UTC »
Recently grabbed a mold off ebay. Lil research I did I think it is an discontinued mold its the PHB-1212. Has 1/8oz,3/16,1/4,5/16. I have came attached to the 5/16oz jigs for walleye fishing and thought this would be a good addition to my collection. I went and poured 8 jigs up last night and instantly comparing them with another 5/16oz jigs I could tell it was lighter.

Is this normal with this mold? From my naked eye it does not look like the mold was modified anyway.

I put 3 different jigs on my scale. Teardrop, roundhead and eyesocket and all came out to weight around .3 on my scale and the pony head bounced from .1-.2.

Maybe it not that big of a deal as I could jut buy the mold with 3/8oz pony head to get size I would need just curious.

Thanks
Joe

It's the one thing I hate about buying fishing tackle on line. You almost have to have it in your hand to see if it's the size you want. We all have those pile of baits, hooks and molds that we have bought that were the wrong size.

This could be one of those molds that accounts for the finished bait to determine the weight. Try adding a blade and split ring and then weigh it.
