Autism Awareness

 April is Autism awareness month and I would like to share a photo of my son Adam. Adam has autism and though he doesn't like to fish much, he does enjoy being in the canoe.

Awesome to see him out enjoying family time!! Autistic families have a special place in my heart. The wife teaches special education and I know how challenging things can be. I would love to see more research done to cure and help prevent these disabilities

 Thanks Mo, things can be  challenging at times but we always try to involve Adam in everything we do.

I've noticed an up-tick in the tv advertising for autism here in the Med City. More and more is being learned about the disability.

Adam seems to enjoy the water.

I have a grandson with autism, so I know what your going through. Sam is a great kid, can't talk, but he does everything you tell him through.  Like your son, Sam doesn't care to fish, but he loves to play in the water. Here's hoping they come up with a cure.

Autism has got to be a life changing experience.  I won't pretend to know of the daily challenges your family faces.  Through work experiences, however, I do know that different families deal with autism differently.  Some seem to live in a box and become introverts.  Others, like you, openly share your family with us, your friends.  Your picture of Adam speaks volumes, DF.  Thank you for allowing us to love on him too, however briefly.  The next time I talk to God, I'm going to throw in a few words on Adam's behalf.

One of my best friend's son is autistic... I feel for you/your challenges, DF. 

I was watching a special last month on Autism, and although the medical community does not know directly what causes it, they do know that the prevalence has gone up by a factor of 64x in the last 40 or so years.  Kinda scary thinking where it might be in another 40 years (without a cure).
