Been busy

Man, when summer comes along things get busy. In March we closed our antique business in one location and last week we worked our days for the month in the new shop. Work is work wherever its done but the new place is going to be much nicer for Ma and I. As soon as we wound up our work there, we drove the 80 miles back home, re-packed the bags and made a bee-line for the cabin for some r&r.

The cabin has its own set of needs and I have figured out how to balance work with play [fishing Lake Superior] over the years. This trip was no exception, but I wish someone would have told the fish I was going to be there....or maybe someone did and they left the area. Fishing sucked.

We hit the peak of the Lupine blooming period and that was worth the trip alone. We had the usual deer and bear as yard guests each day. On Tuesday and Weds evenings we were treated to some of the most spectacular northern lights and fire fly hatches I've ever witnessed. Both were out of this world beautiful. Looking straight up in the sky had color literally dancing from the northern lights while looking straight out over the meadow we could see thousands of fire flies flashing and blinking. It was an amazing part of nature to be able to see and having both going at the same time was just ...unreal.

Well.....we finally lit back here at home. The yard and my small portion of parkland need mowing so that's tomorrow's chore in the morning. Then I see I have a weed issue in the garden so that'll get addressed. And the raspberries need plucking now so.....

Its great to be back home but its great to have found some more memories.

I'm presuming you don't attend the business every day given an 80 mile trip back home, or do you?

(I know a fireman on the Minneapolis FD that lives in Rochester and makes the drive every "workday".)

No, we don't make daily trips to the shop. Our work commitment is only a day or two a month, back to back days and we stay right at the home where the shop is. No motel, no meals out, but we generally hit up the local small burg pub for a burger in the evening. Carole's sister and hubby own the shop. Pretty darned handy.

Mo, the offer still stands. Be a long drive for you but the lake is something to behold and very much worth the time. And the cabin's yard visitors can be entertaining. We've had everything in the yard....moose, deer, bear, cougar, marten, pine marten, porcupines....you name it.  We'll be making several trips up this year and we'll see about getting you on board for one.
