Gone fishing
« on: 08/07/15 10:48 UTC »
Well, my birthday was August 3 and since I'm not going to Canada this year; I decided to take my two sons and two grandsons (age 12 and 13) on a one day salmon charter out of Michigan City Indiana. Tomorrow is the day! Hope to make some good memories with the boys and get a supply of salmon for smoking and grilling!

Well there ya go. Do you take strangers along....I could be persuaded to show up for that. lol

Happy Birthday Gary. Time with your sons and grandsons is probably the best of presents you could give yourself. very, very good decision. Now catch fish!

Well Happy Birthday. Life is short. Next year do both. I've never had a trip that I wish I didn't take. But I have had many that I wish I would have taken.

I just got back from Columbus Indiana visiting my cousins. I went in and out on stealth mode to make sure I wasn't seen. So yes I can still make that claim.
Heading out Monday with the grand daughters to Long Beach Island NJ to do some boogie boarding. Then in three weeks heading to Canada above MN to fish a week with the guys. Life is to short and money isn't worth a damn unless you can spend it.

Just a follow up on the trip. It was great! Caught 8 lake trout, 2 steelhead, 1 king salmon. Everyone caught two fish. Fishing was hard, a biologist was at the cleaning station and told us we had the most fish and the biggest fish for the day. The captain was a nice guy and really worked hard to find the fish. The highlite of the day was with about a half hour to go. Bam, bam, bam, three downriggers went off! First triple he's had on this year and we got all three in the boat. It was like a Chinese firedrill. Biggest laker was caught by my oldest son  16# 8oz. 36 inches long. My youngest grandson; Jack; caught the second largest  fish--laker that weighed 14# 2 oz. Great trip and pictures. Were going to do it next year if everyone can get the time off.

Glade you all had good weather and a great trip . The kids will remember that day for a life time and have smile on there face every time they talk about or think about it.
May your days be filled with sun shine and you always have a tight line. AMEN
