Hooks for jerkbait.

If your not using a weighting additive to your Carrots, what type of hook do you prefer? Or should I say weighted hook? This would be for 5 and 6 inch skinny carrot.

4/0 wide gap Gamakatsu, I also like the Owners and or Trokars in the same size because they are a little heavier and fall just a little faster. The reason I use this is when your twitching it and you stop the weight of the 4/0 wide gap makes the bait fall really slow and flat . that fall is where I get alot of bites if there not chasing an aggressive action . I use the same hook with fluke type baits , trick worms, and for slow sinking worms for the same reason that fall is just on point .

I have tried the weighted hooks , just not a fan I catch way more fish not using them, but they are helpful when the fish are a little deeper.

I guess I fish the 6 inch skinny carrot totally different. A lot of times I do add a sinking additive and wacky rig it with a 1/0 circle hook. When the bit is really tough this method always seems to catch a few. If no additive then I use a flicker wacky rig which pretty much does the same thing. I guess you could put it on a shaky head but I like a worm with more meat on it for that.
