mylar baits
« on: 02/17/16 20:13 UTC »
I read about putting mylar tubing in baits on another forum. I thought Ide give it a try and see how it turned out.  I decided to also use my duel injector on these to try to make a realistic baitfish imitation.  This was one of the times that I couldn't believe how awesome the baits looked when I opened the mold.  It was a little hard to really capture the look of these with the camera.  I couldn't be happier with the way they turned out. Now I just can't wait to get them on a jig and hit the river.

Those look awesome! How do you get Mylar to stay where you want it in the mold?

Mylar does make a bait look super natural and colors you've got these done in really make the baits look alive. Nice work.

Thanks for the nice words. Bassinfool, the first time I tried I poured a little plastic in the belly then put the mylar tube in the hot plastic to hold it. Then I realized the size of tube I was using could only get pushed back so far in the mold. After that I just cut a piece to length put it in the empty mold and shot it. Worked great.

Thanks I'm not real sure the size I found the stuff I used in the craft section at walmart dirt cheap. It just happened to be the perfect size. I think it was a pack with 12 yards for around  $2.  The fly shops are like $4 a foot for a stuff you can get I'm different sizes.
