Is there any way to make glitter adhere to rubber baits externally?

You may be able to use a heat gun to apply it not sure about longevity though.

One method would be to heat up 4 oz of clear plastic and load it with the glitter that you want and then dip the bait into the heated glitter filled plastic.  If you heat the clear plastic enough, you will end up with a very thin coating of glitter impregnated plastic.

Yup. But it's really only doable on baits which will later be clear dipped. You'd simply load a small paint brush with a fine glitter (.040 probably ideal), and apply as you would paint. We've done many swimbaits using this method to highlight swimbait underbellies and such. Definatley worth trying out! Upon demolding your baits, sooner is better here. Try to apply your glitter while the bait is as fresh from its mold as possible.

This isn't a method that lends itself well to production of course, but certainly can add very cool effects to broad sided baits.

Best of luck to ya!

Lureworks has the clear plastic paint. Mix a small amount of paint with glitter and apply with a small paint brush; after it dries; dip the bait in hot plastic. The clear plastic paint is listed with the other colors.

Use lureworks solvent base clear.   It works best with 008 or smaller glitter. I use a fine hair artist brush. Keep the glitter and paint stirred while you paint.   Paint and let dry then paint over then with clear sb. Done.   No need to dip.
