Can't wait...
« on: 11/30/11 15:26 UTC »
I can't wait.  My first order from CCM is in the mail lady's truck and on it's way to my doorstep.  2 1/2 gallons of new plastic (I've been using 5 year old MF stuff I got from a friend), several new injection molds (I've been hand pouring), injector and nozzle, and a little of this and a little of that just waiting for me to get home.  I feel like the kid on Christmas Eve that can't sleep.  I've got a late appointment and then I'm taking my old (former) secretary to dinner.  It'll be o'dark thirty before I get home.  The winds been blowing like crazy and there's a 50/50 chance of being without power tonight.  Maybe I'll just sleep with some of it under my pillow tonight.  Can't wait.

Ain't life grand?
Until next time.

You, my friend, are in deep trouble.  Very enjoyable, addictive trouble.
Just don't get too "anxious".  Be careful.  Safety and PPE ( personal protective equipment ) go hand in Glove with injecting.  Remember the injector and nozzle will get hot.  You have been hand pouring; so you have the plastic / color / glitter side down.  You will absolutely love injecting unless I am badly mistaken.  Jason and crew make a lot of people very happy.   Try to get some sleep tonight.

Hey guys can I ask what MF stands for? I've seen it numerous times and still haven't figured that one out.  :-[

Dave - MF stands for M-F Manufacturing.  They are a plastics, colorant, glitter, open pour mold, etc., company.  Is one of the oldest companies in the plastic home bait pouring business.  I have colorants from them from around 1975 anyway.

Paul is correct, I think they basically either started it, or were one of the first.  Robert is the owner and is a good guy.  He has told me some pretty good stories from the old days - just starting out.  He and another started in their garage, just like most of us.  It is now just Robert and Jeff (his son-in-law - also a top notch guy).  They are located in Fort Worth, TX.  All of our colors are from MF.

Limit Manufacturng was another old one with good stuff.  I think they are now associated with Barlows in one way or another.  Lure craft came along a little later I think; or maybe I just didn't hear about them.  Boy I miss the old Herter's catalogs.
I guess I have turned into one of those "old geezers" huh.

Speaking of catalogs, we get request for catalogs on a fairly regular basis.  Do you shop from catalogs much?  I get quite a few and enjoy thumbing through them, but normally shop online.

I always like to thumb through a catalog. I hate to say it, but I enjoy looking through a catalog then having the ability to order online to speed up the process.  :D

I think I do too...

Believe it or not, I just received another call about one.

Interesting.

I get that request alot too but its hard to have one when your adding products through out the year. I would be the same with Jason always adding new great molds if there was a catalog it would be outdate real quick.

I agree with Dave...a catalog is nice to thumb through and is sometimes easier to view multiple items quickly.

I got my order last night and it was, well, perfect.  I've got a couple of Del's stick bait molds and they are really good.  CCM's, however, seem to be on a different level.  The detail is astonishing and I "can't wait" to do some serious pouring tomorrow.
Until next time.

A catalog is typically an expensive proposition ( and time consuming ).  Especially if in color ( which everyone wants ).  Remember, the purchasers of the product MUST pay for the catalogs, one way or the other.  Either by direct purchase of the catalog; or in the cost of the product.  The "manufacturer" HAS to cover all costs. An answer for a small manufacturer typically lies in the area of an "online" viewable catalog; with a print by page option.  If this is not too cost or time consuming to maintain. This website already provides this in a since.   I have no idea how much time Jason spends on the just the website, but is more than he wants to think about I am sure.  You can print each product's page; it is somewhat cluttered with the side columns of website info; but very "useable" as hard copy.  Maybe the knomes that designed the site can "create" a "Just product info print this page button". This might be the answer that no one loves; but is the overall best alternative.   I am in no way speaking for Jason; and I hope Jason finds no offence in my comments. Or anyone else.
