Dipping Rods To Make Tubes

Does anybody dip rods to make tubes? If so, which plastic is best, Soft, Regular, Hard?

I'll be watching this Thread!  For my lighter Freshwater, I use ALOT of 1.5" and 2" tubes, usually on a Spinner Frame (custom, of course), and I do quite well.  My Wife and I have been talking about doing just that, with 1 particular tube in mind...the 2" Minnow Tube.  All You would have to do is add the belly to Your "dipping rod" really, and You're in business.  Would You use 1/4" Smooth Steel Rods?  Wooden Dowels would grip the plastic so they're not likely an option unless You finished them smooth/slick...

Lurecraft has a four prong tube dipping device. The only trouble is you have to cut the tails. (They also have a cutter. The king of tube dipping is Bojon, you find him on Tackleunderground.com. He has a DVD on tube dipping.
