I will have to test the baits more to see if there is any difference in how they work.

Right now every time I cast one out....it just sits there on the surface....

.....darn ice!

LMBO...... That is priceless!  ;D ;D ;D

I just retruned from Duluth and Lake Superior. 50 degrees everyday since Christmas. No ice on the big lake. Spotchy snow at the cabin yard and then only maybe 4" where there is any. I cast the breakwater yesterday for an hour but no salmon, no loopers and no lake trout, but the air was sweet.

I think the eyes on these shads are prime time. I ordered some earlier this fall with eyes and fished them all over on the river. When the eyes got peeled off thru use, the shads weren't nearly as productive. I'll be adding the eyes again this winter when I have time to clean up the shad bodies and remove the torn plastic cover dip.

Dang Ctom - your weather has been better than North Alabama's.

Mother Nature is giving us a break after last year. We'd had 37 inches of snow by this time with 22 left yet on the ground. And COLD....like in minus 0 range.

The wind was from inland in Duluth. and thats why it was warm. This morning when we left the wind was shifting to the east and had begun to blow in off the lake and things were getting cool again. This time of year the big puddle stays right around 40 degrees if the wind mixes the water up nice. Monday night Ma and I walked along the waterfront inside the shipping harbor and there was some shale ice up to a couple inches thick in some protected spots but the wind that day had pretty well turned it to mush and the 50 degree air twemp didn't hurt the process at all either.

You'd best be doing a heat dance down there. Ma and I are going to Pensacola the end of January. Never been there but we heard about the barrier island drive and we want to do that once. I am hoping for some tan lines.

Bring a rod and reel. They are still catching a few Winter bonita and "ground" fish off the Gulf Piers.    You will enjoy the beaches.
