Taping Powder Paint

Did some experimenting with tap brushing powder paints this past week. Gotta admit this is fun and relaxing. Candy yellow was a good color for me in 2016. So, I decided to try to spice it up a bit. Tapped on root beer flake then dipped into candy yellow in the fluid bed. Not the best at this yet but I'm somewhat please with the outcome.

I have several different brushes for tapping paint and each has its place. A friend uses a salt shaker with some of his paints...he put a piece of aluminum foil inside the cap and used a needle to poke holes thru the foil from the underside so he can control the drop rate from the shaker. All sorts of imaginative ways to get small amounts of powder where a guy wants it to go.

I think I'd have a spray gun for the powder if there wasn't so much waste with it.

Thanks everyone. I honestly doubt the fish will stop to inspect the colors closely. Maybe it will imitate a funky crustacean that they have to eat. Or it might just give me that extra confidence to adjust my presentation to what they want.
As for a powder gun, no way I can justify that purchase pouring for myself. The way our economy in WV is right now I don't see me buying much of anything I can do without other than a couple used  lead and plastic molds I've been looking for.

Those look really nice fish ! I like a silver hologram base with a candy color tapped on the top half of the jig. The candy is clear enough to let the glitter show through. Silver Hologram/Purple Candy two tone is one of my favorites.

I bought a powder paint gun for painting blade baits. It works really well for that but there is some waste going the powder paint gun route. You can set up a simple little booth type deal with a small cardboard box lined with a plastic bag. You can recover much of the over spray and dump it back into your paint jar. That works alright if you are painting 10 + blades the same color but it's a lot of messing around and barely worth the effort if you are just painting a few blades just for yourself.

Decided to throw a few swing jigs in the mix. A few jigs I dipped in candy yellow then into root beer flake. Gave it a nice green copper look.

Thanks everyone. Means a lot to me getting kudos from guys that know what you're doing. I'm just trying new methods and soaking up as much knowledge as I can.

Those are looking good! I do like that method. You can make some cool jigs.
  I do know you can get different colors sometime with the same colors if you cure the first coat in the oven before reheating and tapping on your second color.  Some colors blend if the 1st coat isn't cured befor the 2nd is applied. Just something to think about when your trying to get certain color combos.
