.....to the greatest day ever. Easter!

So what's on the menu for after the important stuff? Here? Ham. I'm going to try and talk Carole into letting me make one of the traditional style hams, those pegged with cloves, topped with rings of fresh pineapple and lathered up with a rich bourbon/cherry/brown sugar glaze. Sweet potatoes are great with ham. I'm pretty easy beyond that.

That sounds great. The locker in Bloomfield, Iowa makes the best hams I've ever tasted. May have to get one.

Do you guys put cherries in the center of the pineapple rings?

  I have many friends that their families all get together and fix big meals. They enjoy seeing all the cousins and such they haven't seen all year. I think it's great they do it. For me and the wife it's just all to busy for us. I come from a very small family and we're all spread out. Our kids have all the other sides families wanting to see them. So we bow out and the wife and I spend the day together either hiking, bicycling or go on a boat ride. She bought a couple of ribeye's and some asparagus so we can grill out later. Five years ago on Easter Sunday my mom passed away and I just need a quite day that day. So we take it.

My mom used to do that, then she would give us kids the cherries with the toothpicks that held them on.

We take the kids out for " Easter" dinner on Good Friday evening then the kids go to their in laws for Easter on Sunday. My GF and I both like putting on a big spread for the holidays but it's just getting to be too much work anymore. We still do Xmas dinner but the kids have started doing the holiday gigs like Thanksgiving and in time, I imagine Xmas will be next.

Sunday will find my GF and I probably out for a hike in the woods or maybe in the boat. Dunno yet but it will be outside doing something somewhere.
