laminate issues
« on: 06/13/12 19:24 UTC »
Me again margret!  I have been attempting to use a laminate plate with a 3.5" swimbait mold.  If I hand pour the back the color I want then shoot the bellies it works out well.  I got the plate and shoot the bellies and they come out fine.  When I shoot the top color I get what you see in the pictures, the top color gets under the belly and ruins what I wanted.

I tried shooting the tops at 340*F instead of the 350 and that didn't help.  I tried shooting a group of bellies and letting them cool then putting them back in, no luck.  Shoot and leave them in, well that doesn't work either.

  Any help would be awesome.

Thank you,

Mike

Make sure the bellies are seated well in the cavities; especially in the area adjacent to the runner.  And slow your injection speed down.  A slow injection speed works for me.

I was wondering if I was being too aggressive with the injection.  I will have to try the slow approach.

That's all it is. If you inject it fast it will lift them up. Slow it down and you won't have any problems.

I just received this mold and was injecting to fast also. On the other hand it does make for some cool looking baits.

hmmmmm, that may have been what part of my problem has been when trying to shoot lams with the plate.  I'll try slowing down and see if I get more consistent results.  Thanks!
God Bless!

You mean the Who Dat Color (Black and gold) Caught specks on it yesterday? Big Saints and Lsu fan the picture makes the LSU one look funky the green is not right in picture made it look more green than it is. I will try and up load the Who Dat onein gallery.  That is one of the few I actually keep notes on. Let me go recreate it to make sure it is right.

LOL! I meant the LSU as that looks like a Table Rock color... The Who Dat is great too!

Thanks for sharing!

OOPS! (LOL) I did not really like LSU  one too much, spent some time working on the yellow today.
Guess I do not have a purple flake that does not bled. Have flake from 3 different places and everyone of them bleds into the color.

let your plastic cool to about 300-325 then add glitter and shoot. may have to reheat a lot, use stabilizer.

Still having problems shooting a complete tail using Laminate plate. Only get it to fill about 50% of the time.
I go ahead and shoot the other color and it normally fills the tail.
