THE YIN
Yes, finally. Our rain year is measured from July 1st - June 30. We only had .7 inches at Thanksgiving and the normal year is about 3 inches. Many of our lakes are almost dry...many lakes are not accessible because the ramps are high and dry, rivers have turned into creeks, and lakes you can get on are dangerous because of unmarked hazards. The rain we're getting now is a blessing and we will take whatever we can get. They are calling for as much as 5" of rain and several feet of snow over the next week or so and more storms are forecast for 10 days out. Prayers are being answered. Amen.
THE YANG
California was a tinder box this summer and fall and we had several huge fires. The King Fire was about 100,000 acres and burned for weeks. That fire was about 30 miles from my home. It wiped out the watershed for many miles and destroyed all vegetation in many deep canyons. This will result in land and mud slides. Some residents are voluntarily evacuating their homes and this is only our first storm.
So, welcome to California. It should be an interesting weather year.
